Five Big Ones

Well Mr. Liam, you're five months old today! May was a big month for you! You learned how to roll over, and are very close to sitting up on your own! You got your first two teeth and survived your first cold, with barely a peep of protest! You met your Uncle Stu for the first time, enjoyed a nice long visit from Grammie and Grampy, celebrated Big Brother Iain's birthday, and missed Daddy for a whole week while he was away for work. You stayed overnight at a hotel for the first time, swam in a pool for the first time (and loved it!), and took your first trip to the zoo. You did all of these things in typical Liam fashion-with a big smile on your face, and without any trouble at all!

We've shipped off another box of clothes to Cousin Cal, as you continue to grow and grow. You go to the Dr. tomorrow, and I am very interested to see what you now weigh. You're wearing mostly 6m clothes, but 9m fits just fine, and even bigger stuff doesn't look like you're playing dress-up in your big brother's britches. Currently, it's the thighs that are cause for amazement...the rest of you has thinned out a little, but those thighs! I've never seen so many rolls and dimples! You've been putting those cute, strong thighs to good use though. You've begun using your Jolly Jumper, and loooove to jump, jump, jump! You also do the same motion in the bathtub, frog kicking from one end of the tub to another, accompanied by smiles, squeals of delight, and lots of splashing!

You continue to sleep well-even teething and a chest cold didn't disturb your good sleep habits! We are very thankful for that. Clearly you are a lower-maintenance kid than your brother! You were back in the pack'n'play for several nights this month, between trips and guests, but it didn't phase you one bit. You seem able to sleep anywhere. You're very adept at breaking out of your blankets now...I think the swaddle's days are numbered.

You still coo and gah and laugh and chat constantly...you're working on new sounds all the time, and it's so fun to hear you practice them. You are such a cheerful, social, friendly, fun baby! Everywhere we go, you make new friends with your adorable chubby cheeks, your toothy grin, and your happy little noises!

I think the next month is going to be a busy one for you too-we'll keep working on the rolling over, and I'm sure that sitting alone is in your near future as well. With all those teeth (and more on the way!), I guess it's about time to start the solid food...but we can't go straight to steak Mr. Liam! We've gotta work on some purees first! Can't wait to see what the next month holds for you, little boy! You make every day such a delight!
