Today we have a broken dryer AND a broken dishwasher. Sigh. I spent the morning grumbling about it, debating whether we should fix them (or one?) or replace them (or one?) and wondering how we would pay for either. I did not relish the thought of unloading the broken dishwasher and washing the dishes by hand, OR unloading the sodden laundry and hanging it to dry. But then I saw the news. And I realized that we're safe. We're warm. We're dry. And so just in that, we are already leaps and bounds ahead of a lot of people today.
But...that's not all. We've got family (two of them in fact!) that we love, and who love us back. We've got great friends. We've got a cute and cozy home, and reliable transportation. We've got a great church and a loving marriage, two wonderful boys...and a pretty darn good life!

And so tomorrow, when I'm tempted to complain about the loads of laundry that pile up hourly, or the stacks of dishes that are produced daily, when Liam spits up (AGAIN) and I think "Great, one more piece of laundry I can't dry", or I make Iain lunch and think "One more dish I have to wash", maybe instead I should remind myself that in addition to all the laundry and dishes we've got, we also have a funny little munchkin who has discovered the simple joys of playing in a box!
And a little cutie pie who has discovered the simple joy of living!
Amen Amen Amen! We are so blessed, aren't we?!
